An Ensemble for Every Level
The Dolce and General ensembles rehearse twice-monthly concluding each semester with a public performance. The Chamber ensemble may rehearse as often as weekly and may have additional performances. Check out our Rehearsal Schedule.
Youth Orchestra
Our Youth Orchestra is open to students through 12th grade who are comfortable with Major/Minor 2 octave scales (up to 3 sharps/3 flats with Sr. Regional Bowings). While no audition is required, chair placement will be determined by the student preparing 2 minutes of solo repertoire: this may be one or two pieces, or multiple selections from the same piece. The music you choose should display contrasting styles and show your highest level of achievement. (Suzuki Book 4 or higher suggested). Entry into the VCE Youth Orchestra is based on teacher recommendation. This form can be found on our Registration Page.
Dolce Ensemble
The Dolce ensemble is open to those new cellists of all ages with 6 months to 1 1/2 years of playing experience. Cellists should be able to play with the bow in the keys of D, G and C Major (one octave).
General Ensemble
The General ensemble is open to all cellists with 1 1/2 years of playing experience. No audition required, however cellists may be asked to play for section and chair placement.
Chamber Ensemble
The Chamber ensemble is open to advanced cellists able to play 3 octave scales as well as read and play in bass, tenor, and treble clefs. This is an audition only ensemble. If you are interested in auditioning please contact Ms. Hartigan at christine@fredericksburgcello.com.
